Through this project, I changed my mind multiple times. From doing this, managing my time with new ideas and essentially a new project overall was crucial. Looking back, I feel as if I completed my updated goal was well accomplished. For my blog, I set out to write at least five posts covering caring subjects either about Cuba or globalization. I did this within the week and a half left in the project after changing my idea. I learned how to persevere and honestly just get my work done as my side of the compromise for changing my ideas. In the end, I completed my website and wrote said five posts in a beautiful manner which shows me that I overcame a pretty big challenge.
I learned a lot about the effects of globalization and because international relations and unique cultures are two things that I am really passionate about, I will carry and put this information to use throughout my life. While traveling, I will have the opportunity to absorb many cultures as well as see the effects already taken place from globalization. In the beginning of this project, I had a very strict opinion on globalization, mostly negative admittedly. However, through research, I realized the positive effects as well which mildly swayed my opinion. From everything I learned, how globalization allows more job opportunities and creates more relations between countries, my main focus and worries are on cultural identity and just how deeply that is affected.
Doing this 20% project was a really great opportunity that I enjoyed. So yes, I do believe that this project would be great for many schools to do. It gives the opportunity for kids to dive into a subject that they actually are interested and will be engaged in. The project "forces" students to be accountable for how they spend their work time. Then, the TED Talk at the end is scary, but definitely allows one to feel accomplished at the end of the project.
